Ferit Orhan Pamuk was born on 7^th of June in the year 1952. He is a Turkish author, scriptwriter, academic and receiver of the 2006 Nobel Prize in the field of Literature. One of Turkey's most noticeable novelists, his work has been able to sell more than 11 million books in around 60 languages, making him the country's chart-topping writer. Pamuk has written well known novels that include The White Castle, The Black Book, The New Life, My Name Is Red, Snow and The Museum of Innocence.

He has been the Robert Yik-Fong Tam Lecturer in the Humanities at Columbia University, where he gives grounding in writing and relative literature. He was born in Istanbul to Circassian parents.
